Don't Let
Satan Steal Your Fries!
by Dana
PortwoodJohn
10:10 A thief is only there to steal and kill and
destroy......
It's been a rough week. I don't know about you all, but
Satan has hounded me right and left for days now. He's
in my dreams, he's in my relationships, and he's right
here in the women at home community. A lot of you don't
see everything that goes on behind the scenes, even the
admin don't know a lot of it. But I hear things about
growing friendships with Christ at the foundation, of
bills being paid, or gifts being sent, of the body of
Christ that has sprung up here going out and doing the
work of Christ. We have Satan's attention.
While I was on my mission trip a few weeks ago, one of
the partners kept telling the kids "Don't let Satan
have your fries" They all knew what it meant, but
I didn't. So, I asked. And was told the story told by
a speaker at conference I had not attended the summer
before. That speaker talked about when he was little,
his favorite thing was McDonald's french fries. He and
his father would often go and spend special time together
over a package of those fries. One time they went and
the package was not as full as it normally is. His
father, sensing the son's disappointment, and wanting to
get what he paid for went back and asked that they please
fill the carton correctly. The employee, somehow
thinking this was spiteful, crammed as many fries
as would fit into the carton. The father took the fries
back to the son and said "Son, don't let them steal
your fries."
Most of us probably don't have fries as our most
treasured possession, but we all have treasured
possessions. Make no mistake, Satan wants them. He
wants your fries, and he will do whatever it takes to get
them. This board is one of my treasured possessions.
And I dare say I speak for all the administrators and
Shepherds and probably all of you when I say that. I
love this place. It's my fries. This morning, Satan
went after those fries, and he thought he got
them. He stole the posts, the messages, the topics, the
recipes. He got 'em. But those aren't the fries. The
fries are the relationships, the love, the understanding,
the adivice, all the lovely women that make up this
family. Satan wanted my fries. But all he got was a
face full of ketchup.
We didn't wake up this morning expecting to rebuild the
Women at Home Forum, but that is what we will do today,
and tomorrow and in the days to come. It won't look the
same on the outside, and it will take some time feeling
settled again. But that's just surface stuff. The
real heart of Women at Home is what you will bring with
you when you come. Bring your best. Bring your love,
your laughter, your patience, your compassion. Bring
your fries. Don't let Satan have even one.
